From the age of seven I wanted to write songs as my dad and I spent a lot of time listening to and discussing them, because my family loved songs and because my mum would play requests on the piano by ear, which seemed magical to me. I come from a big family of music lovers. Later I wanted to travel and write songs about different people and places. Then as time went by I decided I wanted to write about feelings of love and loss. After that I started working with schools and communities so I wrote about different subjects, telling stories and encouraging learning.
back in the nineties and early two thousands I made a good start to my career as a singer songwriter, gained publishing and record deals, toured. performed regularly, formed bands and had a full time solo career, but such is the nature of the music business, I soon realised I'd need to work in a variety of musical ways if I was to feel inspired and survive as a writer and performer.
Having spent seventeen years gigging pretty much non stop, i began to run out of steam. I left the city and headed to The Lake District. Since then I have worked with many artists and communities and continued songwriting, gaining the inspiration to explore new ideas and to engage new audiences.
I look to record the songs I've been writing and refining over the last decade and more, in the next few years. In the hope that they're worth a listen. So if you’ve found this site and the music linked to it, then thank you. I hope you enjoy the songs. You are most welcome!
